Just because a neutral is in your color palette doesn't mean you should wear a suit in it. And wearing shorts and a t-shirt in your formal colors can feel "off".
Or how about your romantic colors? The colors that make you look and feel feminine and approachable? Then combining these colors with your "black" to create a feminine and formal look.
