Happy Sunday!
Â
I went to bed last night with an overwhelming feeling of contentment and happiness. There's a lot of stress inducing events happening right now, so to get to that place felt so good.
Â
I made a decision on Friday to focus on what's important. That would include my health, my family and doing things that I love. Friday afternoon, after Matt and Mindy disrupted what was supposed to be a productive day... I decided to not get frustrated with them. It's easy to do :-). Instead, I asked Mindy if she wanted to go outside and play. She's 18. We agreed on tennis. So, I closed my laptop and went out to the garage to gather our supplies. By the way, we are no tennis players. No
way. But, we have rackets and balls. Can't explain it. Anyway, my son, Matthew (20) decided to join us. The tennis courts were taken... so we opted to play badminton in the street until they were open. That was a hot mess.
Â
We then played a terrible round of tennis... "round"?... it's not golf but whatever. We played for about an hour and it was so much fun! Came home, cooked dinner... played a board game... and then I spent time getting lost in my sketchbook. I haven't done that in forever. You can find my "work of art" in the Creative Color Challenge under Squiggles.
Â
Yesterday, my good friend Betsey and I did a live webinar talking about jewelry styling, classic blue and combining colors in fun ways. It was so much fun! We had like 40 people attend which was so great. Zoom is an amazing platform to connect with people. We're doing another one on Wednesday afternoon, if you want to join us. It's just a fun way to connect, talk jewelry and color. We're talking about pink this time.Â
Â
Afterwards, Joe, Jack and I played a board game. Then Mindy came downstairs, put on a mix of 1940-50s swing/blues music. Joe opened a bottle of red wine. I brought my sketchbook down with watercolors and painted/sketched while Mindy cooked an amazing dinner of caprese salad and baked gnocchi. It was soooo good. We played another board game and I ended my day curled up reading. Happy.
Â
It's so strange. It's not like we couldn't do any of these things before, but when all the distractions are removed from your life, we focus on what we can control. I choose to control what I do with my time. Joe and I work out to our kickboxing FB group videos. I'm letting my creative spirit loose in my sketchbook! And remembering to just have fun. The excuse of "I just don't have the time" is no longer.Â
Â
Is there something you've always wished you had the time to do? Do it.Â

Soft Warm and Deep – Can I wear white and black?
Jen answers a question submitted to her via her Ask Jen page.
As you say swd is as the soft autumn with darker hair. I look great on dusty orange and navy. And I love the earthy colours, navy blue, black and white. I don’t like the rich colors in lipsticks and nails and I prefer natural colors. As SWD can I wear white and black, my favourite colors, especially white, which is a big no for SWD? Can
I wear natural and light lipsticks?
Join the creative color challenge brought to you by Your Color Style with your host Jen Thoden. Each day a new creative challenge prompt will be posted. They will center around a color.
