[Your Color Style] 🌼Adding Interest, Undertones, 3 Ways To Wear and more
Published: Thu, 07/29/21
Hello and happy Thursday!
Thank you for all of the very sweet letters regarding the loss of my dog, Trooper. The emails were so nice to read. We're doing ok. The hardest part is getting Storm through the transition. She was his litter mate and companion for 15 years 7 months. She doesn't know how to be alone and howls when she's alone for more than 5 minutes. So, that part is a bit challenging. Otherwise, we are all doing well and it's back to life as usual with a slightly different energy in the house.
There was a lot of discussion around undertones and Soft vs Bright in the Facebook group this week. I posted a Facebook live video on the FB page and group explaining my theory on warm vs cool and soft vs bright. Just visit the FB page to see the video.
What makes an outfit interesting?
How many times have you put on an outfit only to think, meh. I look ok but it's missing something. You end up getting bored with your clothes and declare "I have nothing to wear!" Maybe it's not that dramatic, but it is for me. LOL
Often, when we put clothes together to create an outfit, we think "Does this go with that? Is this a good color for me? Do these pants make my butt look too big?"
But what we probably don't ask ourselves is what makes this outfit interesting? That's the secret sauce. It's the detail that starts to form your personal style. Here are some ways to add interest to your outfit:
Avoid 50/50 color. Aim for 70% one color with 30% another color.
Wear a unique accessory: glasses, hat, necklace, watch, belt, scarf, broach, earrings
Wear unique shoes
Combine different textures: smooth and rough, sparkly and flat, denim and silk
Wear a pattern with a solid
Combine two patterns
Wear a fun lip color
A fun bag
A funny or powerful saying on a shirt
A unique color or color combo
A unique pattern
Try one of these at a time and see what works for you. And now, please enjoy the newsletter.

We help women wear their signature colors in creative ways that express who they truly are.
A few years ago, I found myself divorced, grieving over losing my oldest daughter and truly lost. I had forgotten what it was like to have true joy in my life. Did I ever really know? I didn't know who I was or what truly made me happy.
As I went through the process of learning about myself, I founded Your Color Style. Identifying the colors that make you feel amazing is a simple step you can take to build your confidence and self image. Color transformed my life. It is how I express ME. It is now my mission to help you connect to your true self and wear colors that make you shine... so that you can feel more like you again.
