Do you make your bed?
Seriously. Do you take the time, everyday, to make your bed?
I will tell you that I used to leave my bed in a pile of rumpled sheets and blankets. Almost out of principle. I'd proudly tell people that I didn't make my bed, it's just going to get
messed up again... so what's the point?
So, every night, I'd sort of straighten out the sheets just enough for me to be comfortable. Life moves on.
Today, I make my bed every morning before getting to work. I smooth out the sheets. Fluff the pillows and smooth the pillow sheets. I lay the cover sheet just so and re-tuck the edges where needed. I lay the comforter over so that it is all
smooth and neat.
Every time I walk into my bedroom, I feel good. That ONE thing is not taking up my energy or draining me. Every night, it feels so nice to slide into a made bed. Like at a hotel. It feels so nice.
Imagine if your closet and drawers gave you the same feeling?
Each time you open your closet, you have a feeling of
inspiration... happiness... pride. Instead of being jammed with too many clothes, with half that look so-so on you or you don't even wear this time of year... you see a collection of clothes that work well together AND make you feel amazing. Because you have designed your wardrobe to only include items that don't just look good on you... but make you feel great when you wear them.
You deserve to have a wardrobe like this.
Getting dressed is like sliding into that perfectly made bed each night.
It is so easy to NOT take care of ourselves. We eat on the go. We say we'll exercise "later" because other things have to get done now. It is so easy to put self-care last.
But when you put yourself first. When you do something for yourself that says to YOU: "I respect
you. You deserve love. I'm going to do this small thing that will make you feel good because you deserve to feel good."
Whenever I don't feel like making my bed, I say to myself, why not? I respect myself and I deserve to see a neat and tidy bed that feels amazing when I slide into it at night. Joe loves the made bed too, by the way.
Your wardrobe should be a reflection of you and inspire
you every single day.
So, how do we get there? Because it is a journey.
